he wakes up at 5 am, just like he always does. he leans in to brush his lips against yours when you stir in your sleep, eyes fluttering as you murmur his name. you don’t see it, but he smiles when you do that. he climbs out of bed and watches you roll over onto his side of the bed as you bury your head in his pillow. you’re still dreaming, but his scent makes you feel at home. you don’t hear, but just like he always does, he says, ‘i’ll be back soon.’ maybe you hear him in your dreams because you fall into a deep comfortable slumber, knowing that when you’re awake he’d walk in the room, just like he always does.
